What types of industries would be most likely to choose a best of breed approach to their IT systems? What types would be more likely to choose a single large integrated solution?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Organizations which have strong CIO leadership and believe in supply chain as including the whole of the 3 macro processes would be more likely to choose large integrated solution. The leadership would be responsible for managing and promoting this kind of a project. Organization which has a mature supply chain would be more inclined towards this integrated solution.

Recently merged organizations and vertically integrated organizations may choose best of breed approach as they have a more self-centered approach in their supply chain. Such organizations start with implementing ISCM at first plan and then deliberate on using CRM or SRM best of breed implementation at end of supply chain. Also, organizations which are closer to end of supply chain may choose this sort of a system tailored to their needs.
