American Factory documentary: In post-industrial Ohio, a Chinese billionaire opens a new factory in the husk of an abandoned General Motors plant. Early days of hope and optimism give way to setbacks as high-tech China clashes with working-class America. In this documentary, it was very noticeable how the two cultures clashed because of the nature of their culture, through Hofstede's cultural analysis, how the long term and indulgence dimensions can be described/presented?
It is obvious that high tech China clashes with the working
class of America because of the difference in their origin of
cultures. Using two cultural dimensions of Hofstede, these
differences can be explained. For the present study, long versus
short term orientation and indulgence versus restraint are going to
be explained in the next segment.
Long versus short term orientation:
This dimension was originally described as pragmatic versus
normative. Countries with long term orientation have the tendency
to be modest and pragqmatic and thrifty. People often wonder how to
know the truth but behave in a modest way. People with long term
orientation have a deep route of education and thrift are seen as
positive values.
