Use of social media in the workplace is varied from company to company and its policies. The reason why the result of using Social media varies a lot because companies have their own set of rules and working environment and culture.

So due to different policies and culture at the workplace:

Some of the company allow a free will in the use of social media and trust their employee a lot but at the same time get NDA letter signed. Some companies think that this will hamper the productivity and hence banned it totally. Banning also comes due to fear of leakage of data from companies.
