Answer #1

Ans1. Preauthorization is a decision by your health insurer that a health care service or treatment plan, prescription drug or equipment is medically necessary. Once a patient is scheduled for a medical treatment you should initiate the verification procedure and enquire with the insurance company whether this particular service requires preauthorization. If it is required then initiate the preauthorization request and include the valid documentation required. It is designed to help patients prevent medications that is not needed or that might interact dangerously in the body with other drugs or systems and also helps to manage costs of expensive medications.
