Answer #1

Suprax(Cefixime) ; IN THE QUESTION

Ordered dose of Suprax ; 80mg po every 12 hours

Drug in hand ; 100mg/ml

Recommended dose ; 8mg/kg/day

Weight of the child ; 44Ib

Convert the child weight in to kg ;   = ( 1kg= 2.2 Ib)

For a child with 20 kg needed 160mg of Suprax ( 1 kg = 8mg

; 20 * 8 = 160mg)

Suprax available in syrup 5ml containing in 100mg

100mg Suprax is in 5 ml

1mg Suprax is in 5/100ml

160 mg Suprax is in (5/100 * 160) = 8

So,the child needed 8 ml in one day. ie, 4ml every 12 hours
