1. Concentration of drug Y is 500mg/250 mL ( given in the question)

Concentration in Each mL = mass ÷ Volume

= 500 mg ÷ 250 mL

= 2 mg

Concentration of drug Y in each mL is 2mg

mcg of drug Y in each mL is 2 x 1000= 2000 mcg (1mg = 1000mcg)

The answer is 2000 mcg of drug Y in each mL

2. D5W means 5% of dextrose in water. That's 5 grams of dextrose in 100 mL of water

So, grams of dextrose in 750 mL = (5 x 750) ÷ 100

= 37.5 grams = 38 gram (round figure to nearest 10th)

750 mL contains 38 grams of dextrose
