Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker , used to treat in case of high blood pressure and caronary artery disease conditions ,angina.

Mechanism of action :-

This drug act by inhibiting the movement of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle cells and cardiac muscle cells ,inhobition of calcium ions inhibits the contraction of cardiac muscle and vascular smooth muscle cells. This results vasodilatation and this leads to lowering blood pressure.

This is significant for high blood pressure control .
