Apneustic breathing is a abnormal breathing pattern in which prolonged pause at the end of inspiration can be seen.It is due to damages to the Pons.

Damages to vagus nerve causes slow emptying of stomach content,slowed heart beat,and vocal cord paralysis.

Medulla is the controlling center for heart and lungs.It regulates involuntary functions such as respiration and circulation.Any damages to medulla may cause respiratory failure and even death.
