1) they should know how to anticipate and manage the onset of his mood episodes

2) know how to recognise their "high high" and "low low" feelings he's experiencing

3) to change their negative and potentially harmful thoughts, feelings and behaviours ( this process is called cognitive behavioural therapy)

4) they should also build their child's self esteem

5) they should become and active member in their own care "team ".
