Patient navigation refers to individualised assistance offered to patient, families,and caregivers to help overcome healthcare system barrier by funding the patient's treatment.

Medicaid follow Fee For Service(FFS) model for funding patient navigation. In FFS model, the health care provider submits a reimbursable claim or procedures, tests, medicines or any other health services provided to the patient over a period of time. FFS provide guaranteed stream of funding for services included in the relevant fee structure. This model is however being criticized at times as many health care proffessional are creating false incentive there by provinding over costly charges and not satisfactory care to the patient.
