Homework Answers

Answer #1

•The child is edematous because-

1) Kidney dysfunction due to destruction of glomerular capillaries.

2) Sodium and water retention.

3) Increase permeability of Capillary walls.

• Ascites is not occurs because in Acute post streptococcal glomerulonephritis mild proteinuria occurs, hyperaldosteronism is not occurs. Severe proteinuria and hyperaldosteronism is responsible for occuring ascites, because they decrease plasma oncotic pressure leads to shifting of intravascular fluid into interstitial space and ascites occurs.
