The emergency department is one and the more accessed area by a sick person . Therefore the rate of direct client care is very high here and so the rate of infection if there is no safety practices followed .For instance a patient with motor vehicle accident with active bleeding and unconsciousness is received in the ED. The basic safety work practices which is done in these types of situations are use of PPE to prevent any infection, informing to the concerned authority like cops regarding the admissions to avoid legal consequences ,providing care under EMTALA , providing immediate first aid and life saving procedures .The risk and hazards are the chance of any unknown infection from the patient . Appropriate preventative care ,PPE and following the hospital policy to provide the best possible quality care.
