I will represent Beta blockers by BB, ACE inhibitors by ACEI, Oral Hypoglycemics by OH, Diuretic by D and Statin by S.
Why are they prescribed:- BB:- to low Bp, ACEI :-to low Bp, S:-to lower cholesterol and protect from heart disease and stroke, OH to treat type 2 diabetes, diuretic to treat hypertension (it has many other uses also).
Effect on exercise response:--BB decreases heart rate and prevent the sudden increase in heart rate during exercise, OH should not be used as exercise itself causes hypoglycemia, Diuretics lowers HTN caused during exercise due to increase in BP, Statins have no effect, ACEI lowers BP which rises during exercise.
Exercise program modifications:- No need to modify but less intensive exercises should be targeted.
