We can use the Health Benefit Model to address behavior
change in a health problem of our choice such as the use of condoms
if the person;
- by making the person feel that a negative health
condition contracting a sexually transmitted disease can be
avoided,
- making the person have a positive expectation i.e. by
taking the recommended action, of using condoms he/she will avoid a
negative health condition i.e., the use of condoms will be
effective at preventing HIV, and
- making the person believe that he/she can successfully
take the recommended health action i.e., use condoms comfortably
and with confidence.
