The cardiovascular disease like coronary artery disease is associated with high mortality. They have increased chance of myocardial infarction, stroke.

The patient should be advised to have regular medical consultation and proper follow up. All the medication should be taken properly as prescribed. The nurse should ensure this. The risk factors which are reversible should be reversed such as alcohol consumption, smoking, lack of exercise,unhealthy eating habits.

The nurse can design a routine food menu of different varieties which should include whole grains, fruits, vegetables and minimum fat.

The nurse can give advise to patient to get rid of any habits that are harmful to his condition. The nurse can design all these measures bases on the decisions made by the treating physician.
