volume remaining

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Given 1000ml IV to be infused in 12 hours

After 4 hours 220ml is infused.

Remaining volume is (1000-220) =780ml

Remaining time is (12-4) = 8 hours.
Which is (8x60) = 480 min (28800seconds)

In order to complete infusion in time remaining volume of 780ml should be infused in 8 hours (480min)

The rate is volume/time = 780/480 ml/min. which is 1.625 ml/ min

Set calibration is 20 drops per ml.
For 1.625ml it is (20 x 1.625) = 32.5 drops

The required rate for remaining solution is 1.625ml/minor  1.625ml/60seconds or32.5drops/60sec
