There are some significant difference between this syndrome occurs in the adult and the children. Mostly the adult get this condition because of the higher body mass or obesity , but in the case of children the most common cause for this condition is tonsil enlargement due to any kind of infection occurs during their childhood period, these bigger tonsil will obstruct the normal passage of air in the upper respiratory tract. Other than that adenoids would also cause these obstruction and may lead to apnea while having a sleep.
