It is non- insulin dependednt diabetes or Type-2 diabetes mellitus.In type 2 , the glucose is not taken into the cells.This is frereed to as insulin resistance.

The dental considerations that need to be taken are;

• first of all proper history should be collected.
• the type of treatment that he has taking for DM should be noticed.
• this would help the dentist to know about the severity of DM and how well it is controlled.
• If DM is well contorlled then the dental procedures can be done .
• before the starting of procedure, they should get consulted by the physician.
• after the procedure, patient should be given antibiotic to prevent further infection.
• Once the patient comes, immediate treatment should be provided.
• A source of orange juice should be prepared prior to the procedure, in case, patient suffers any hypoglycemic atack/
