Medical assistants has an important role in the health care industry.Medical assistants need to perform administrative and clinical duties.Administrative duties includes greeting patients, answering telephones, working with electronic medical records, scheduling appointments and coding and filing out insurance forms.Clinical duties includes taking medical history, preparing the patients for exam, collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, sterilizing medical equipments and giving instructions to patients about medications.Electronic medical records helps the medical assistant to an extent. It helps the medical assistant to track patient data and leading to sweeping changes in how they conduct their work. These digital records helps the medical assistants to use this patient data to make care giving more efficient and effective.
