Answer #1

1.Hydrocolloids dressings are ordered as it is used for stage II and stage III wounds with minimal drainage. It provides a moist and insulating heating environment and protects uninfected wounds. These dressings don't have to be cahnged often and it is very easy to apply. It is self adherent and provides cushioning over bony prominences. They are used for granular and necrotic wounds.

2.Wet to dry dressings consists of moistened gauze placed over a wound ,left it there until dry and then removed.Removal of dead tissue and wound drainage is the purpose of this dressings.

As a simplified model for weather forecasting, suppose that the weather (either wet or dry) tomorrow will be the same as the weather today with probability p. Show that the weather is dry on January 1, then Pn, the probability that it will be dry n days later, satisfies Prove that Pn =(2p−1)Pn−1 +(1−p) n≥1; P0 =1 Pn = 1 + 1(2p − 1)n n ≥ 0

Stochastic probability, Renewal theory: The weather in a certain locale consists of alternating wet and dry spells. Suppose that the number of days in each rainy spell is a Poisson distribution with mean 2, and that a dry spell follows a geometric distribution with mean 7. Assume that the successive durations of rainy and dry spells are independent. What is the long-run fraction of time that it rains?

This is problem 7-13 from El-Wakil’s Powerplant Technology book -- a wet-dry cooling tower receives 20x106 lbm/h of condenser cooling water at 110 degF. The water is cooled in the dry section to 90 degF and in the wet section to 70 degF. The outside air is at 1 standard atmosphere, 60 degF, and 40 percent relative humidity. The air leaves both dry and wet sections at 81 degF. Calculate (a) for the dry section the outside cooling air required,...
