Drug abuse resistance education( DARE) was a public health initiative which mainly intended to tackle drug abuse among kids. They are given training from elementary schools about the harmful effects of drug and to stay away from it and the kids act as informers about the drug abuse to the police. However, this programme failed miserably as a study later conducted shown that this was counterproductive as when those kids became high school students they started to use these drugs than other students who were not in this programme. This is an excellent example of a failed public health policy.
