define achieved status and give an example as it apply to life

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Achieved status is a social position one can attain on the basis of merit in the society. The status is gained over a person's effort. It is something that has been earned or choosen by the person hiself and reflects personal skills, personality and behaviour. When a person earns a status or postion by his own achievements, efforts and skills it is known as achieved status. The easiest example of this can be the personalities and socialeconomic status of sportman, actors, singers, professors and criminals. They all achieved nothing by birth but put their effort in different fields and gained different skills and hence gained the reputation for what they are known for in the society. A professor is well respected by everyone while people fears a criminal as well as hate them.
