Suppose you have a small child suffering from an extreme fever. Assuming you have enough ice and a container large enough to hold the child, describe both in words and mathematically how you would reduce the child’s fever to a normal level using an ice bath.

Answer #1

Fever is an indication that the body is fighting.Taking steps to reduce the fever can prevent febrile convulsions.Ice bath packs may seem like a quick way to bring down the temperature, but are not the most effective solution.Ice bath solution is used mostly incase of adults.Using it for infants might be a bit risky as children start shivering more.Icing your infant does the opposite of what you would expect. The body registers the cold exposure and tries to warm up.The shaking movement produces friction inturn produces heat. Therefore exposing infants or small children to icepacks or icebaths may raise the temperature even further when the baby starts to shiver. But if still one prefers to do so,It can be maintained at temperatures like 12 degrees celsius by which there are chances of reducing the heat.

Suppose that you manage a mutual fund. You have extensively researched two stocks, Citi and Tesla. Given your research, you anticipate that Citi will return 8% next year and that Tesla will return 7%. Tesla stock has a beta of 0.75 and Citi has a beta of 1.9. The yield on a one-year Treasury bond is 2% and you expect the market premium to be 4%. Currently you hold both Citi and Tesla as part of a broadly diversified portfolio...

Be sure to set it on one die, and not two. You are not certain that using a die such as this virtual die is actually as fair as a normal plastic die and want to justify for yourself...

We are interested in soda consumption among UW-Madison students. We have data from a sample of 29 Soc 360 students. For these purposes we will consider our sample a SRS from the population of interest. Assume that 29 is a large enough n so that the sampling distribution will be Normal. Further suppose we know that the standard deviation of the number of bottles/cans of soda consumed in a day among UW-Madison students is 0.72. The mean number of bottle/cans...

Question (2) [5 marks] (Use R) Suppose you have a company producing cupcakes. Each cupcake is supposed to contain 10 grams of sugar. If your assumption is true, the machine needs to be fixed. You stored the level of sugar of thirty cupcakes. Note: You can create a randomized...
