When a patient is taking amiodaron with a statin there will be heaptic metabolism. Metobolising enzyme is inhibited by amiodaron it will lead to excessive amount of statin, this increased amount of statin may cause increased risk of myopathy, heaptotoxicity and sometimes rhabdomyolysis. Rhabdomyolysis is the breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue. This rhabdomyolysis may cause kidney damage and even death.

Sometimes there will be unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness also while taking these medications together.
