The nurse has to do the following for Julian's safety when she is 2 hours old:

  • Newborn assessments to be performed as per the unit policy and monitor Julian for any complications and infections
  • Immunizations has to be given with parental consent
  • Newborn screenings has to be done
  • Ensure ID band every time when Julian is given to the parents to ensure that they have been given the correct baby
  • Precautions to be taken to prevent baby abductions
  • Educate the parents to never leave the baby unattended and hospital staff with proper ID to be allowed to take the baby
  • Education to be given to the parents regarding breastfeeding,thermoregulation
