Sexually transmitted infections are transmitted through sexual contact. Some of these infections are transmitted from a pregnant woman to her fetus through vertical transmission.

Sexually transmitted diseases could be prevented through adoption many methods of prevention.

• Always collect history of sexual partner before having a sexual contact
• Limit the number of sexual partners
• Appropriate and safe use of male and female condoms
• Prevent unwanted pegnancy by adopting practices of safe sex
• Avoid risky sexual practice which may tear the vaginal or anal orifice that increase the risk of spread of these infections
• Women of reproductive age can get vaccinated with human papilloma virus to avoid genital warts and cervical cancers
