The electrocardiogram is a reflection of cardiac muscle contraction. You can directly diagnose specific defects in muscle activity. True or False

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The electrocardiogram is a reflection of cardiac muscle contraction. You can directly diagnose specific defects in muscle activity.

FALSE

The electrocardiogram is a reflection of electrical activity in Heart. The ECG electrode does not detect Contraction and relaxation, It actually detects repolarization and depolarization(Theses are 2 different things)

You can diagnose defects in muscle activity by analyzing the pattern of how electrical impulses pass-through the muscle.

You are interested in developing a blood test method to diagnose a disease. The disease is caused by an increased enzyme “X” catalytic activity involved in a specific metabolic pathway in the liver. Enzyme “X” is also found in other tissues and have normal level catalytic activities. All the tissues secrete enzyme “X” and therefore this enzyme can be expected to be presented in the blood. You can assume that the liver enzyme has a change in 3-D conformation. Explain...

True or False 1- The sympathetic system can increase cardiac output by constricting the capillaries in the digestive system. 2-  Capillaries “service” the tissues via a combination of diffusion, transcytosis and bulk flow. 3-  A decrease in blood pressure would increase bulk flow and potentially lead to general systemic edema. 4-  The lymphatic vessels are responsible for returning excess fluid lost at the capillaries back to the general circulatory system. 5-   The valve between the inferior and superior venae cavae and the atrium...
