1. Zollinger Ellison syndrome is caused by gastrin secreting tumor of the pancreas. A blood test is done to detect for high levels of gastrin. An endoscopy is done to detect the presence of gastrinomas which produces high levels of gastrin. Gastric secretion specimen is collected as follows: Residual gastric secretion is collected from a fasting patient. Basal secretions are collected every 15 minutes for 4 hours. Gastic secretion is collected every 30 minutes for 90 minutes.
2. ASO test is antistreptolysin O test used to check the blood for strep infection. The diseases this test can detect are: bacterial endocarditis, scarlet fever, glomerular nephritis, strep throat and rheumatic fever.
