Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by mycobacterium
tuberculosis. The bacteria enters the host through inhalation of
infected droplets.
The disease attacks multiple organs mainly involving the lungs.
Other site of infection are vertebra, gastrointestinal tract and
brain meninges.
The common symptoms of tuberculosis are cough, hemoptysis, fatigue,
chest pain, weight loss, fever, back pain.
The treatment for tuberculosis includes multidrug regime for 6
months which includes Isoniazid, rifampicin, pyrazinamide,
ethambutol or streptomycin.
