Can some tell me the expected findings of Hemorrhagic stroke and the effects on fluid and electrolyte and/or acid base balance for Hemorrhagic stroke.. This is a pathophysiology class
The expected finding of a Hemorrhagic stroke are as follows: The patients may get total or limited loss of consciousness, nausea, vomiting, sudden and severe headache, numbness in face, leg or arm on one side of the body. There may be dizziness, loss of balance, problem with speech or swallowing.
Hemorrhagic stroke occurs mostly due to brain aneurysm or weakened blood vessel leak.
The laboratory finding for hemorrhagic shock does not show any specific change or abnormal laboratory values. However, it appears that that the rate and depth of ventilation increases in an attempt to compensate for developing acidosis. There is respiratory acidosis and metabolic acidosis. Fluid and sodium retension will be there. The ptient will have low intravascular volumme but excessive interstitial fluid which will result in edema. Lactate acidosis is common in patient of hemorrhagic shock.
