Health insurance portability and accountability act (HIPAA) main function is to provide insurance and protect the patient data.Confidentiality is the key motive ,however when it comes to the test of some incurable disease the partners need to be necessarily informed just for doing the test.But when the test report reveals positive the HIPAA has its rules of making aware of the partners as wee.

The infected person has to inform this to his or her partner.If not revealed it is a crime.

They send their final report with entire patient details to the CDC to monitor the patient and it's epidemic state.
