2 . The patient recovering from myocardial infraction on
bed rest with comorbidities of diabetes and peripheral vascular
disease is at risk of developing pressure ulcers. Precautions that
can be taken are-----
- Change the position of patient every 2
hours.
- Reposition as per orders to comfortable
position.
- Place air filled or water filled ballons at pressure
points.
- Do not drag the patient while shifting, instead lift
using the sheets underneath.
- Use air filled mattress which relieves the pressure on
skin.
- Provide proper nutrition .
- Give fluids as per orders.
- Keep the skin clean and dry.
- Moisturise the skin after bed bath.
- Use adult diapers if there is no urinary
cathether.
- Maintain blood glucose levels . Administer insulin or
oral hypoglycemics as prescribed.
- Advice physiotherapy.
