Answer #1

Answer :

Body surface area (BSA)

BSA =√[(height in cm ×weight in kg) /3600]

Given height =148cm , weight = 67kg

BSA =√[148×67) /3600] = √2.75 = 1.6596 m2

The body surface area of the given patient is 1.6596 m2.

Given that the provider orders fluorouracil 300mg/m2

ie, 300 mg in 1 m2

The BSA of patient is 1.6596 m2

Therefore total fluorourcil is 300 ×1.6596=497.9mg

Also given that the pharmacy provides the drug in 50mg/ml

ie, 50 mg in 1ml or 1mg in 1/50ml

So for 497.9 mg , 497.9/50ml = 9.9579ml

Therefore, the volume of fluorourcil 300mg/m2 , iv, one dose daily for 4 days is 9.9ml.

So as per the question we can round the 9.9 ml to nearest 10th ml as 10ml.
