PATHOPHYSIOLOGY ___ irreversible dilation and destruction of air space distal to terminal bronchioles whis involves respiratory bronchioles ,alveolar duct and alveolar sac DUE TO alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency and sometime smoking . In normal lung between elastases and anti elastases( alpha 1 anti trypsin) is balanced but in smoker increased elastase and destructions and due to alpha 1 trypsin deficiency elastases increased and destruction of wall.
