Cholecystitis is an inflammation of the gall bladder. Gall bladder is located inferior to the liver with the function to store bile produced by the liver temporarily.

Gall stones is one of the main reason for cholecystitis. Other risk factors include obesity , old age , older age group are at risk of cholecystitis.

Diet for cholecystitis :

  • Lean protein such as fish , sardine , shellfish are good for gall bladder health.
  • Citrus fruits such as lemon, gooseberry have antioxidants which reduces inflammation and therefore an option for person with cholecystitis.
  • Vegetables and fruits adds on fiber which is essential for gall bladder health.
  • Low fat milk rich in calcium is also in this list.
  • Nuts, bellpeppers , tofu are also good source of proteins and is in list for cholecystitis.
  • Do not eat foods which are processed, fried and junk food.
