Katz index of independence in activities of daily living is one of the best score. It is based on six attributes which are the essential functions that a human being should perform to carry on our daily living. The six attributes are listed below

Bathing

Dressing

Toileting

Transferring

Continence

Feeding

If a person requires no supervision, no direction, and no personal assistance a score of 1 is given and if in case a person requires assistance in supervision, direction, personal assistance as o're of 0 is given for each attribute.

A total score 6/6indicates he can be independent in his ADL. And a score of 0/6indicates high dependence for ADL.
