Describe Multiple myeloma as well as Describe at the cellular level, the pathophysiology of this disease process. Please provide references in APA. Thank you.
A type of blood cancer affecting plasma cells in the blood is called multiple myeloma. The malignant plasma cells accumulate in the bone marrow and this crowds out the normal plasma cells that help fight infection. These malignant plasma cells produce an abnormal antibody called M protein, which may cause tumors, kidney damage, bone destruction, and impaired immune function. A high level of M protein in the blood is the hallmark characteristic of multiple myeloma, (Mayo clinic).
