Identify and perform ten resistance training exercises. Describe which phase of the exercise is the eccentric, concentric, and isometric phase of the movement. At which phase is the muscle the strongest? Why? Describe how what you have learned during this experience will help you in your future training endeavors.
1- leg adduction
2 - plank
3 –side plank
4 – wall slides
5 – straight leg raises
6 – wall shin raises
7 – heel step downs
8 – arm raises
9 – external rotation
10- internal rotation
The eccentric phase is when muscles lengthen under load or tension, the concentric phase is when the muscles shorten. Isometric phase is when no muscles are moving, during the pause of a repetition. The strongest phase is the eccentric stage due to being able to handle more weight than the concentric phase can.
Understanding the difference in strength during the three phases of a lift can help a trainer manipulate the trainee’s capabilities and break past plateaus.
