Melissa, the medical assistant, is preparing instruments for the autoclave. What rules must she follow when wrapping the instruments?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

As per the standard procedure for wrapping of instruments preparing for the autoclave it is advised to wrap instruments either individually or in the sets followed by labelling with the initials of the concerned staff. The instruments are wrapped in the disposable pouces or the double wrapped instrument wrap paper or double-thickness muslin wrap for the purpose of the steam processing in the autoclave. It is highly recommended to put the steam indicator strip in each wrap. It assures that the particular instruments are sterlized from the autoclave.
