Answer #1

Total ml ordered or supplied = 100 ml

Total min ordered = 20 min

When infusion rate is less than 1 hr use ratio propotion formula

Formula : total ml ordered÷ total min ordered = X (ml/ hr) ÷ 60 min / hr

Here

100 ml÷ 20 min = X ÷ 60 min/ hr

By cross multiplication

20min × X= 100ml × 60 min/ hr

X = 100 ml × 60 min / hr ÷ 20 min

X = 6000 min / ml / hr ÷ 20 min

  X = 300 ml/ hr ( min get cancelled)

There fore X = 300 ml / hr

Or

Another method

Formula : total ml ordered÷ total time ordered × 60 min ÷ 1 hr = X (ml / hr)

X = ( 100 ml÷ 20 min) × (60 min ÷ 1 hr)

X = 5 ml/ min × 60 min / hr

X = 300ml/ hr ( min get cancelled)

There fore set the controller at 300 ml/ hr
