Answer #1

HYPERLIPIDEMIA means that blood has too many lipids or fats like chlosterol , in one type of HYPERLIPIDEMIA , there is too much chlosterol in blood , which increases deposit of fat in arteries and risk of blockages. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic medication often used to treat high blood pressure, to decrease the risk of kidney stones etc.

The mechanism of Hyperlipidemia with thiazide is not clear, however one of adverse effects of hydrochlorothiazide is Hyperlipidemia, it appears to be an acute response to high dose thiazide Treatment.

If high dose of 50 milligram or more of hydrochlorothiazide is given, it can temporarily increase low density lipo Protein chlosterol, or the bad chlosterol and triglycerides causing Hyperlipidemia.
