Mr. Edwards is 20-year-old male patient who is admitted for treatment of recurring pyelonephritis (kidney infection) and surgical treatment of a urinary stricture, which has decreased the urinary stream. Mr. Edwards has paraplegia; he is paralyzed from the waist down secondary to an automobile accident when he was 16. He came by ambulance to the hospital, leaving his wheelchair and wheelchair pressure-relieving cushion at home. According to the nursing history, the patient is a nonsmoker and he does not drink alcohol or take any illegal drugs. (Learning Objective 5)

1. Nursing consideration for Mr. Adwards:-
- Mr. Edwards has paraplegia and hence requires certain special nursing treatment and care.
- In case of paraplegia, the intensity of the symptoms depends greatly on the location and extent of the damage.
- Wheelchair and cushion available at the hospital by the hospital or be brought by relative if possible.
- The room should allowed for the use of his wheelchair or be accommodated for such. Patient self-care should be promoted.

2. Health promotion and prevention education for Mr.Edwards:-
- Provide education aout prevention and treatment options.
- ?Emphasis on the importance of safer sex practices.
- ?Educate the patient about to follow the prescription treatment as directed by physician.
