The basic principle word of plethysmography is based upon BOYLE'S LAW means volume and pressure of a gas is inversely proportional with constant temperature.

plethysmography records and measure change in volume of an organ or whole body by plethysmograph.

It also measure thoracic gas volume , airway resistance, total lung capacity, and lung compliance.

Parts of plethysmograph is body box , mouth piece, pneumotachometer. Plethysmography use pressure transducer. It is based on volume, electrical impedance, circumference, and infrared light.
