Image contrast is developed by using X-ray units. Density between the structures is the key basis for the contrast of image.

There are following factors affecting radiographic optical density &b contrast:

• Film fog
• Exposure
• Scattered radiation which reaches the image receptor
• Image acquisition device
• Development of the image

These factors affect the sharpness of the image, the contrast of the image and the overall quality of the image.
