You are a school nurse. A student comes into your office and is hesitant to share his thoughts with you. What could you say or do to develop a therapeutic alliance?
One of the most important things to make the student less hesitant is to by making that student comfortable with you. When the student comes you don't directly have to jump on the problems student has and rather you should start making conversations so that student can be on the same frequency and be comfortable because it is difficult to directly share your personal problems. Start your conversation by asking about the background of student and about his friends and what are the hobbies and by this you can know whether the student is actually introvert or just shy to open up. This way student can feel comfortable and might be less hesitant to share his thoughts.
