what is the study of the function of cardiac muscle

Answer #1

Cardiac muscle tissue is an important muscle tissue seen only in our heart. This muscle is also known as myocardium. The functions of cardiac muscle are as follows:

   * Cardiac muscle allows heart to pump blood through circulatory system which is involuntary and cannot be controlled by any one. This differentiates cardiac muscle from skeletal muscle tissues.

* The heart contains various types of cardiac tissue including" pacemaker" cells which helps to control heart rate. The ends of cells are joined by junctions which determines and allow the cells to contract and expand. The pacemaker cells signals to speed up or slow down hearts.

* The cardiac muscle requires continous supply of oxygen to function. If there is any oxygen flow interruptions, results in necrosis.
