Adenosine tri phosphate is the major energy transfer molecule.The free energy transferred to other molecules, to make unfavourable reactions in the cells favourable.It provides energy for many processs in living cells like muscle contraction, nerve impulse propagation etc.so it referred as molecular unit of currency of intracellular energy transfer.ATP is not a main storage molecule, its the function of carbohydrate, glycogen and fats.when energy is needed by cells, it is converted to ATP for the energy transfer.
