Question

a 10 mg / 250 ml solution is to infuse at 20 mcg/min

a 10 mg / 250 ml solution is to infuse at 20 mcg/min

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Given

10mg=10000mcg (10*1000=10,000)

So 10,000mcg/250ml

To infuse 20mcg/min and calculate its volume in ml

As 10,000mcg=250ml

Then 20mcg=??ml

Cross multiply and divide

=20*250/10,000

=5000/10,000

=0.5ml

So 0.5ml will be infuced in a minute

As 0.5ml=1minutes

Then 60minute(1hr)=??ml

Cross multiply and divide

=60*0.5/1

=60*0.5

=30ml/hr will be infused

As 30ml =1hr

Then 250ml=??hr

=250*1/30

=250/30

=8.3 hour or 8hr 18minutes

The total fluid will be infused at 30ml/hr over 8hour 18minutes
