B) enzyme induction

C) maintenance dose

D) loading dose

Answer #1

One way to reach a therapeutic drug level in a patient as rapidly as possible is with a loading dose.

Inferences: The therapautic drug level in the bloodstream is the range within which that drug is expected to be effective without causing any serious complications. A loading dose is the initial higher dose of the drug to reach a therapeutic drug level which is then maintained by a maintainenance dose.A delayed release product is a dosage form that releases the portion of the drug other than promptly after administeration. An enzyme induction is a process in which a drug enhances the expression of an enzyme. This may result in increased or decreased drug concentration of drug depending on the characteristic of the enzyme. The maintenance dose is the dose administered to manitain the therapeutic dose of drug.

1 The Problem: Drugs in Series[1] One of the physician’s responsibilities is to give medicine dosage for a patient in an effective manner. Two mathematical techniques help physicians analyze the concentration of drug is the bloodstream of a patient: the exponential decay model (EDM) and the Geometric Series and its Formula (GSF). In this problem, we will analyze the situation where a drug is administered intravenously and that the concentration of the drug in the bloodstream jumps almost immediately to...

An experimenter has prepared a drug-dose level that he claims will reduce headaches for 80% of people suffering from migraines. There is speculation that the claims regarding the effectiveness of his dosage are inflated (i.e., are too high). In attempt to prove this, we administer his prescribed dosage to 50 people with migraines and observe that 37 of them have had reduced headaches by the drug dose. Is there enough evidence to conclude that his claim is inflated at the...

A linear relationship between the dosage of a new chemotherapeutic drug and the degree of pulmonary function is being investigated. Measurements of the forced expiratory volume in 1 second are collected as a measure of lung function and plotted against the corresponding dosage of drug each patient received. Which one of the following is the most likely or appropriate statistical approach to assess any correlation between drug dose and forced expiratory volume in 1 second? A. Pearson product moment* coefficient...
