When deciding whether to accept or refuse a medical treatment on behalf of an infant, the standard that should be used by a parent includes the fact that the treatment should be based on the implementation of the most recent evidence in the clinical context which leads to the delivery of the safest i.e. one having least side effects and most efficacious medical intervention. As this is the core of the evidence based practice, according to the standards of care.
